description
“ Trois arches d’aqueduc et galères ”, , a set of sculptures visible from the Fréjus Est tollbooth, on the A8 motorway. The work, signed by the architect and sculptor Olivier de Rohozinski, was installed in 1997 and pays homage to the Roman character of the city. Created in the 1st century BC under the name of Forum Julii (Jules' market), Fréjus is one of the towns in France with the largest number of Roman monuments. These works in off-white concrete symbolize both Roman engineering - the aqueduct - but also the naval power of the Romans, represented by the galleys.
